Almost 10% of the population of Mexico makes their living in the creation of folk art. The twentieth century influx of tourism created a huge growth in these cottage industries. Pottery is one of the most prolific of these arts. Towns near Guadalajara such as Tonala and Tlaquepaque produced some of the most beautiful and exciting pottery -- each style unique to a village or region.

La Casita Mia will continue to search out affordable pieces of pottery, wood carving, wrought iron work and religious objects that honor these artists embodying the cultural wealth of Mexico.
